Your boarding address is printed on your confirmation email. We have three stations you may board our excursions: Elkins Depot, Durbin Depot, or Cass Depot. Be sure to use the address printed to look up directions for your drive. You want to arrive at your station at least 1/2 hour prior to your departure.

Any excursions out of our Durbin Depot or Cass Depot feature steam engines. This includes the Durbin Rocket, Cass to Whittaker Station, Cass to Bald Knob, and Wild West Durbin Rocket.

For the New Tygart Flyer, the Parlor Car is our upgraded seating. Added amenities include no children under age 12 allowed, tables set according to the size of your party (up to 4 at one table), more comfortable chairs, panoramic views on the return trip, more options on the buffet (which is private and set up directly in the Parlor Car), and adult beverages (wine only). The Regular Service features standard 4-top tables in larger cars that allow children. The meal is served in a separate car (Concession Car). Car hosts escort small groups in each Regular Service car to the Concession Car in order for folks to retrieve their meal and return to their assigned car.

All excursions out of Elkins feature diesel engines. This includes the New Tygart Flyer.

All trains departing from the Cass and Durbin stations are wheelchair accessible (Car D on Whittaker Station and Car G on Bald Knob are the accessible cars on those trains). Due to the historical nature of the equipment and a non-standard platform, the New Tygart Flyer out of Elkins is not wheelchair accessible. There are multiple steps to board the Flyer, but there are handrails to help.

Yes, all of our trains are round trip.

A “King of the Road” bagged hobo lunch is included on the Cass Bald Knob train. The hobo lunch consists of a cold sandwich (lunch meat, cheese, etc. all separated in plastic wrap), chips, cookie, and bottled water.

New Tygart Flyer. The New Tygart Flyer features enclosed, climate-controlled cars with assigned seating. When booking the Regular Service (formerly known as “Buffet Service”) cars, you will choose your own seats at traditional 4-top tables. When booking the Parlor Service, seating will be CUSTOM, which means we will pre-arrange tables to seat you together based on your party size.

All trains departing from Cass and Durbin (Durbin Rocket, Cass Bald Knob, and Cass Whittaker Station). The Durbin Rocket features open-air cars (they have roofs but are open on the sides) and general seating. Once onboard, passengers will be able to choose their own seats (first come, first served). The Bald Knob train features open-air cars (they have roofs but are open on the sides) and seating is at traditional wooden benches. When booking, you will choose a car on the train which will be your car assignment on the day of your trip (Car A is closest to the engine while Car I is farthest away from the engine). Once aboard your assigned car, you will then choose your own seats. The Whittaker Station train features open-air cars (they have roofs but are open on the sides) and seating is at traditional wooden benches. When booking, you will choose a car on the train which will be your car assignment on the day of your trip (Car A is closest to the engine while Car E is farthest away from the engine). Once aboard your assigned car, you will then choose your own seats.

No. Alcohol, smoking, and illegal substances of any kind are prohibited onboard. Wine is served on the Parlor Car of the New Tygart Flyer only.

It depends on which train you are riding. No food is served on the Durbin Rocket or the Cass Whittaker Station train. The concession stand that was previously available at the Whittaker Station stop is no longer in operation. Therefore, we recommend packing a picnic for those trains, but we do not allow large coolers onboard. Handheld coolers and backpacks full of snacks/beverages are allowed. All outside beverages must be in closed containers. The Cass Bald Knob train and the New Tygart Flyer both serve a lunch onboard. If you need to bring your own lunch due to dietary restrictions, that is no problem, but the same rules for outside food/beverages would apply to those trains as they do for the Durbin Rocket and Whittaker Station trains.

Regular Service tickets include a cold cut cafeteria-style lunch (with non-alcoholic beverages such as water, tea, and coffee) served onboard in the Concession Car. The meal is basically a buffet version of the bagged lunch that is included on the Bald Knob train. Parlor Car tickets include upgraded lunch options in addition to a selection of desserts and wine provided by a personal car host. Tips are not included in Parlor Car ticket price – cash bar after one complimentary glass of wine.

Pets are not allowed on any of our trains. Service animals are allowed provided that they are required due to a disability. Emotional support animals do not qualify as service animals and are not allowed.

Smoking is strictly prohibited on any of our trains, even those that feature open-air cars. Customers may smoke once they have detrained.

Elkins parking is located next to the depot and Railyard Restaurant in the large lot with sign that reads “Railroad Parking”. Durbin parking is in gravel lot next to depot and across the street from Rail & Trail Store. Cass parking is the large paved lot next to the depot. All parking is free.

Children age 11 and younger are not allowed on the Parlor Car. However, children of all ages are allowed on the Regular Service cars.

All trains except for the Cass Whittaker Station train include a restroom. Trains with restrooms included are the New Tygart Flyer, Durbin Rocket, and Cass Bald Knob. The Bald Knob train features a restroom in Car G only. There are also restroom facilities at Whittaker Station and Bald Knob.

Yes! There are 4 different cars: a caboose, an open observation “sky” car, ,an open car with a roof, and an enclosed post office car with sliding doors to see out. All seating is not assigned and first-come, first-served.

Regular Service passengers are allowed to travel between all Regular Service cars, but they are not allowed to enter the Parlor Car. Parlor Service passengers are allowed to travel into Regular Service cars, but we do not recommend doing so.

For safety reasons, we cannot allow passengers to travel between cars on our Cass trains. If a bathroom emergency is required on the Bald Knob train, we will allow passengers to use the facility located on Car G.
